World Record, RacerX Fly 4 Times Faster than Ordinary Drones

World Record, RacerX Fly 4 Times Faster than Ordinary Drones

New York - RacerX, this drone recently entered the Guinness World Record with a speed of 179.9mph (80.4 meters per second), although it weighs only 800 grams.World Record, RacerX Fly 4 Times Faster than Ordinary Drones

Commercially available drones, such as the Phantom 4 DJI, only fly up to 44.7 mph (20 meters per second).

The first prototype of the drone burned when it reached its highest acceleration point. However, the drone's last model, flown in Cunningham Park in Queens, New York, recorded the speed.

Drone Racing League (DRL) set the record using a quadcopter that is powered by a specially designed battery-powered remote. The drone was handmade from DRL Product Director, Ryan Gury, and DRL engineer team.

"We are excited to place exclusive technology for this test, we focus on speed and push the boundaries of drone design in DRL," said Nicholas Horbaczewski, CEO and Founder of DRL, last weekend.World Record, RacerX Fly 4 Times Faster than Ordinary Drones

"RacerX's record record is the culmination of years of technological innovation by a team of world-class engineers, and we are very excited to launch the fastest racing drones on earth," he added.

To set that record, the drones need to fly back and forth across the 100-meter track, with official records set at the highest average speed achieved on each flight.

By 2017 DRL will host a series of six global races, the Allianz World Championship, to be broadcast on ESPN, Sky Sports, ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, Disney XD, OSN and other leading broadcast channels around the world.World Record, RacerX Fly 4 Times Faster than Ordinary Drones

Founded by Nicholas Horbaczewski in 2015, DRL is a private company headquartered in New York City.

In various races the company uses DRL Racer3, a custom drone that can fly from 0 to 80 mph in less than a second.
